LARGER RESEARCH GRANTS

Larger Research Grants support ten to eleven projects with a duration of between one and three years, each at a maximum full economic cost of between £100,000 and £600,000. These are ambitious, collaborative research projects, providing opportunities for less experienced researchers as well as senior scholars, which will facilitate dissemination and exchange with the research community and a broad public. The competition was conducted in two stages, an outline phase (closing date 6 April 2006) followed by a request for full applications from short-listed candidates (closing date 20 July 2006).

The Commissioning Panel considered 124 eligible applications for Larger Research Grants, of which 27 were invited to proceed to full application stage. 12 grants were awarded.
