Progress and Highlights

The workshops have stimulated discussion around some of the key issues of current landscape research: the lived experience of journeying, cross-cultural perspectives on landscape aesthetics, and the deep implication of narrative in landscape and landscape in narrative. Tying these together has been an ethnographic focus on the continuing relevance of what we are describing as activities of landscape, rather than mediated visions. Presentations of fieldwork from Latin America, North America, Europe, Japan , Siberia and Indonesia , amongst others, have enriched the discussions.
